Technology
To help manage our concrete delivery trucks, automatic-status truck tracking technology has been implemented in some of our larger Operation Areas. GPS technology is used to display vehicle locations on a map. Truck mounted sensors are employed to report vehicle activity. Data is transmitted from trucks via a wireless service. This information is accessed via the Internet by our personnel. Monitored truck activities include: speed, water added, pouring, etc. The system also offers safety reports that rate driving behavior by truck relative to other trucks in a fleet.
In addition, almost all of our plants are equipped with batch control computers. These systems are utilized in the manufacturing of our concrete. We use this technology to measure raw materials against target amounts defined in our concrete mix designs
When good data, gleaned from technology, is utilized to evaluate and improve business practices, benefits may be significant.
